FUEL FILTERS: Let me spend some time on changing your fuel filters. First, I'll demonstrate how to replace the carburetor filter and then go on to show an in-line filter change. Most American cars integrate the fuel filter in the carburetor body itself. In order to replace the fuel filter, you'll need to remove the fuel line which is located here. Insert your wrench and with a gentle tug loosen up the fitting. After you have removed the fitting completely, you will need to remove the filter encasement itself. Again, with a gentle tug, remove the entire piece. Then remove the filter housing itself, which should expose the fuel filter. Replacement is the reverse of the procedure. Replacing the in-line fuel filter in your car involves mostly being able to find it. Once you have found the in-line fuel filter, simply loosen the hose clamps, again twist the filter and remove the clamp. Do the same for the other side and replace the fuel filter as a unit. I recommend you replace your fuel filters at every tune-up. Remember to run the engine and check for leaks after replacing any fuel filters.
